How Do I Get Rid of Fleas

How do I get rid of fleas is one of the questions I hear quite often from people, they tend to be people with pets, this is because it is quite common for pets to bring fleas into the home after they have been outside, the fleas jump from one pet to another or from the long grass onto your cat or dog as they play in a field.

A single female flea can lay up to 50 eggs in a single day, this means that if a single flea jumps on to your dog you may have hundreds of eggs laid in your home within a week.

The eggs protect the fleas as they go through the development stages this is a stage that can last from just 2 days up till 2 years, during this stage it is only the more potent chemicals that can penetrate the shell of the eggs and these need to be handled with care as they can harm pets and people, you must read the instructions for these products to ensure you are using them correctly.

If you do have a pet putting a flea collar on them before they have a problem with fleas can stop fleas becoming a problem in the first place, the chemicals that are impregnated into the collars kill the fleas when they bite the pet or else they dose the flea with a chemical that stops the flea reproducing and f they can not reproduce then they can not lay those 50 eggs a day. This is a good way of stopping the problem before it becomes a problem in the first place, if you currently have a flea infestation then this may be something you could consider using after you have used some of the other methods to remove the infestation from your home so that you do not get a flea problem again in the future.

So to answer the original question how do I get rid of fleas, once you have a problem with fleas you could use a flea fogger in the infected areas of your home, they work by sending out a mist or fog of chemicals all around the home, this penetrates the carpets and furniture that may have eggs or fleas hiding in it and the chemicals are of such a potent nature that they are able to penetrate even the shell of the fleas egg, this stops the fleas developing in to fully grown adult fleas.

You should then hoover up all over the house, paying attention to all fabric surfaces in the house, you want to get rid of all the dead fleas, all the dead eggs and any that may have surfaces the chemical fog, ensure you empty the hoover bag when you have finished the cleaning as you do not want the fleas to survive in the machine and make their way out to start breading again.

Using these methods of prevention and eradication is the answer to how do I get rid of fleas in my home.
